Prague, May 20, 2025Today marks the beginning of a three-day program in Prague and Brno for a delegation of nearly thirty Ukrainian space technology experts. The goal of this mission is to deepen Czech-Ukrainian cooperation in the space sector. The mission is organized by the CzechInno association with financial, organizational, and professional support from four Czech ministries: the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Defence, as well as the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, which is hosting several parts of the mission program.

From May 19 to 23, 2025, the Czech Republic will host a high-profile mission of Ukrainian stakeholders focused on enhancing cooperation in the field of space technologies. The delegation consists of almost 30 experts from the State Space Agency of Ukraine (SSAU), universities, research institutions, clusters, and companies involved in the development and application of space technologies. The mission is organized by CzechInno in collaboration with four key ministries of the Czech government, aiming to strengthen Czech-Ukrainian ties in research, development, and industrial cooperation within the space sector.

The mission program officially begins on May 20 in Prague with a workshop on building effective international project consortia involving Czech and Ukrainian partners, followed by a welcome roundtable and official reception hosted by the Czech Ministry of Transport.

The highlight of the delegation’s visit will be participation in the Czech & Ukraine Space Business Forum on Wednesday, held at the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic. Key participants will include Government Commissioner for Ukraine Reconstruction Tomáš Kopečný, David Müller, Director General of the EU and Foreign Trade Section of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Václav Kobera, Director of the Space Activities and New Technologies Department at the Ministry of Transport. The forum will feature a rich conference program, presentations of cooperation opportunities from companies and research organizations in both countries, and a series of B2B meetings. The day will also include a thematic discussion with the Ministry of Defence and visits to leading institutions in Prague such as SpaceKnow Inc. and the Aerospace Research and Test Establishment (VZLÚ).

The mission is organized by CzechInno, a non-governmental, non-profit innovation matchmaking organization. “It is a great honor for us to organize the mission program and create a platform for communication between the most significant Czech and Ukrainian players in the field of space technologies, with the participation of four Czech government ministries,” said Tereza Šamanová, Executive Director and member of the CzechInno Steering Committee. “This project aligns perfectly with our long-term mission of supporting innovation, security, and resilience in both public and private sectors, and connecting stakeholders across public, research, academic, and business domains to collaborate on innovation activities. We aim to swiftly translate the outcomes of this mission into joint Czech-Ukrainian projects,” Šamanová added.

On Thursday, May 22, the mission will move to Brno, where participants will visit leading South Moravian companies in the space sector, including TRL Space Systems, Frentech Aerospace, and S.A.B Aerospace. The meetings will also be attended by representatives of the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kyiv, and local academic and research partners.

The mission includes a wide range of participants from the Ukrainian space industry, research institutions, government bodies, and companies engaged in space research and practical applications. For the Czech Republic, this event confirms its role as a valuable partner for Ukraine and highlights its commitment—through leading domestic and international space technology firms and four government ministries—to intensifying cooperation with Ukraine in the field of advanced technologies and high-value-added applications.

The Ukrainian Experts Mission on Space Technologies to the Czech Republic is part of the PROPED 2025 program, supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, and organized with the help of the Czech Embassy in Kyiv and the CzechInno association.

The Czech & Ukraine Space Business Forum is part of broader efforts to support B2B and research cooperation in digital innovation and new technologies between Czechia and Ukraine. It is coordinated on the Czech side by CzechInno, and on the Ukrainian side by the Ukrainian Cluster Alliance. Its main long-term themes include smart cities and regions, smart industry, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, now joined by space technologies. The program features thematic missions, conferences, and bilateral expert meetings to identify business and strategic project opportunities that support the implementation of digital innovations and new technologies in both industry and public administration.

Such initiatives may be supported through programs such as Aid for Trade – Ukraine or Capacity Building for Ukraine (implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Trade), or through the United Nations Development Programme, coordinated in the Czech Republic by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
